Safra’s Story

A New Step in Reading – My Classroom Journey

I am a trained teacher in primary education with 10 years of teaching experience, and I have been teaching English for the past four years. While working in the classroom, I saw that many of my students found it hard to read English. They struggled with reading simple words, and this made it harder for them to learn the language well.

I wanted to help them. That’s when I found the Lotus English Literacy Program. This program changed how I teach. It uses phonics—teaching the sounds of letters—to help children learn to read step by step. After I started using this method, I saw big changes. My students began to enjoy reading and could understand words more easily.

Watching them improve made me feel very happy. I believe this is one of the best things in my teaching journey.
Many of my students did not know the sounds of letters. They forgot easy words like “the” and “is.” Since they didn’t hear much English at home, reading was even harder. Some children could not focus for long, and a few couldn’t tell the difference between sounds like  and .

To support them, I used fun phonics activities with songs, pictures, and actions. I showed words with matching pictures, and I used Lotus books with bright, colorful images. We practiced for just 10 minutes every day. I also played games like letter hunts, word matching, and writing letters in the air or sand. These made learning fun and active.

I also spoke to parents and asked them to help their children by using simple English sentences at home. I kept a notebook to follow each child’s progress and gave extra help to those who needed it. Most of all, I gave them lots of praise, and their confidence grew day by day.

These ideas came from my real classroom work. I believe that even small changes can bring big results. Seeing my students become confident and happy readers is the best reward in my journey as a teacher.
