In this two part seminar we introduce phonological awareness and important concepts such as stages of development of sound awareness for English, phonemes and syllables. We then give practical examples of activities to help young children develop their awareness of sounds in English as an essential preparation for learning to read. This seminar is designed for preschool teachers, and Grade 1 and 2 teachers in Sri Lankan schools who are teaching the Government Activity Based Oral English Syllabus (ABOE).
