This seminar is for English teachers who have completed the PIMD course on Teaching Phonological Awareness and Phonics for English. As the new school year starts, we decided to give you a quick refresher on the Lotus phonics lesson plan and the logic behind each step in the lesson structure: how do we help students remember the symbol that goes with a sound? how do blending and segmenting help them read? how do spelling patterns help with word recognition? what is encoding and how do we test this skill? in what order should we teach the writing practice book?
