This course is designed for primary and junior secondary English teachers in Sri Lankan schools, as well as RESC staff, English ADEs, ISAs, and other Master Trainers. You will learn about the latest methods for literacy instruction based on ‘the science of reading’ including how to develop awareness of sounds in oral language as a foundation for reading and how to teach students phonics so that they can read more, faster, sooner and independently. This is the first course in the PIMD Lotus English Literacy curriculum. Teachers who pass this course are then eligible to participate in other courses.

This is a free (no cost) course conducted completely online through the University of Jaffna. On successful completion, participants will receive a certificate from the University and PIMD.
