Register here to join next batch of our University accredited online short course “Teaching Phonological Awareness and Phonics for English in Schools” to be hosted by the University of Vavuniya. This online, self-directed, self-paced course run over 12 weeks is designed for primary and junior secondary English teachers in Sri Lankan schools, as well as RESC staff, English ADEs, ISAs, Master Trainers, and tutors working in tuition centres.

You will learn about the latest methods for literacy instruction based on ‘the science of reading’ and the ‘science of learning’ including how to develop awareness of sounds in oral language as a foundation for reading and how to teach students phonics so that they can read more, faster, sooner and independently. This is the first course in the PIMD Lotus English Literacy curriculum. Teachers who pass this course are then eligible to participate in other courses.

The online learning system will guide you through the learning and assessment tasks. You will have 12 weeks to complete the course and can move at your own pace. There are no scheduled classes.

On successful completion, participants will receive a certificate from the University and PIMD.
