This course is online and self-directed. Engage with expert presented video lectures and additional content working at your own pace to fit with your schedule. There is no fixed schedule. You direct your own learning. 

1. Building blocks of reading: Start with the Simple View of Reading (SVR), focusing on the interplay of decoding and comprehension.
2. Activating and expanding background knowledge: Learn how to enhance student comprehension by activating what they already know about the topic before reading then consolidating new knowledge after reading.
3. Vocabulary as a tool: Explore methods to expand students’ vocabulary effectively.
4. Language structures: Navigate the complexities of syntax to improve comprehension.
5. The power of inference: Teach students to read between the lines for deeper understanding.
6. Genre and text analysis: Prepare students for diverse reading materials they will encounter in higher education.

You will complete five online, automatically graded quizzes to test your understanding of theory and practice. Pass all quizzes (multiple attempts allowed!) and you pass the course.
