Kaushalya Wijethunga’s Story
I’m Kaushalya Wijethunga, a teacher of English from the North Western Province. If I had to explain this course to someone, I’d say, “It’s pure MAGIC!”
Before taking this course, I tried really hard to teach phonics, but my students didn’t improve much. They often forgot the sounds and couldn’t identify them, so reading and writing were a struggle. But one day, I decided to try a lesson using this systematic and explicit teaching method. To my surprise, all the students, even the slow learners, caught on quickly.
Now, I see a big change. My students can read and write fluently and are much more confident in English. This course has been a game-changer for me. Its simple and fun approach has made teaching easier and learning more enjoyable for my students.
This course quickly changed the way I teach, the way my students learn, and my mindset about how much our Sri Lankan government primary students can achieve!
I’ve seen them become confident, happy readers and writers, and it’s the best feeling as a teacher. Truly, this is one of the best gifts I have received as an educator.
